Old Scugog Road during Christmas time

Old Scugog Road to be remade till Hwy 407

The Municipality of Clarington is planning to reconstruct Old Scugog Road from Edmonson Avenue to Highway 407 in Hampton in the summer of 2021 (pending budget approval).

The existing road is in poor condition due to an absence of adequate drainage and needs to be repaired for public safety, said a council statement.

The proposed work includes:

  • Reconstruction of the road to allow adequate drainage to a defined roadside ditch and prevent water from draining onto private properties.
  • A semi-mountable curb in areas where the road is not wide enough for roadside ditches.
  • Local storm sewer replacements within the project area.
  • Local spot repairs of the existing sidewalk.
  • Utility relocations as needed to allow for the proposed road design.

The proposed reconstruction design will avoid impacts to the existing sidewalk and private properties fronting Old Scugog Road as much as possible, the statement added.

  1. Also why are you using a picture of Old Scugog road further south where the infamous Christmas lights are? Not only is the headline misleading, so is the graphic. Come one Durham Post, put some effort in and not just click bait crap.
