Upcoming Durham road closures, lane restrictions

Durham residents are advised to take alternative routes as road closures and lane restrictions have been announced for Clarington, Oshawa, Ajax and Whitby.

The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of lane restrictions and closures on Trulls Road and Baseline Road in the Municipality of Clarington’s community of Courtice.

  • When: Ongoing until December 2023.
  • Where: Trulls Road, from Bloor Street to Baseline Road, and Baseline Road from Courtice Road to Trulls Road in Clarington.
  • Why: To safely install a new trunk sanitary sewer main and watermain.

Simcoe Street North in Oshawa: The Regional Municipality of Durham also advised residents of lane shifts and lane restrictions on Simcoe Street North (Regional Road 2) in the City of Oshawa.

  • When: July 11 to 15. Unfavourable weather conditions may affect the schedule.
  • Where: Simcoe Street North, from Conlin Road to south of Winchester Road in Oshawa.
  • Why: To safely pave the road including intersections.

Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews. The region said it realizes that the work may be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Ajax road closure: The Town of Ajax has announced the closure of Clements Road West due to work being done at a parking garage located at 680 Harwood Avenue South.

Clements Road West between Frazer Road and Harwood Avenue South will be closed on July 13th, 2022. The road will be closed from 8am to 12pm.

Whitby road closure: The Town of Whitby has announced that Garrard Road will be closed from just north of Birchpark Drive to Conlin Road starting July 18 for sanitary sewer work.

Anticipated opening is late-fall 2022. The town thanked residents and visitors as it improves roads and services.
