Upcoming road closures and traffic alerts across Durham

The Regional Municipality of Durham has announced upcoming road restrictions in the three municipalities of Oshawa, Clarington and Brock.

It is advising residents of a road closure on Cobbledick Road in the Municipality of Clarington.

When: August 12 to November 11. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.

Where: The road closure will be in place on Cobbledick Road from Service Road to the waterfront trail, including the Samuel Wilmot Nature Area parking lot.

Work taking place will also require temporary closure of a section of the waterfront trail between Cobbledick Road and Toronto Street. Trail closure and detour signage will be present on-site to provide trail users with the necessary information to navigate the alternate route.

Why: To allow for the replacement of the existing sanitary sewer forcemain and construction of a new gravity sanitary sewer.

Brock road closure

The Regional Municipality also announced an upcoming road closure on Regional Road 13 in the Township of Brock.

Where: Regional Road 13 from 732 metres east of Lakeridge Road to 810 metres west of Sideroad 17, in Brock.

When: Work begins August 12, 2024. Anticipated completion of this phase of construction is December 2024 and surface asphalt by the end of May 2025. Unfavorable weather conditions may impact the work schedule.

Why: To safely complete road reconstruction. The work includes asphalt removal, grading, drainage, granular base and subbase, curb and gutter, hot mix asphalt, culvert replacement, two precast box culverts, sod and seed, and new plantings.

Note: Traffic will be detoured via Lakeridge Road (Regional Road 23), Regional Road 10 and Highway 7/12.

Lane shifts in Oshawa

The Regional Municipality is notifying residents of upcoming lane shifts and speed reductions on Ritson Road North in the City of Oshawa.

When: August 26 to November 22. Unfavourable weather conditions and the Region’s contractor schedule may influence the work schedule.

Where: North and southbound lane shifts and speed reductions on Ritson Road North (Regional Road 16), from Britannia Avenue East to 775 metres south of Winchester Road East (Regional Road 3), in the City of Oshawa.

Why: Daily lane shifts and speed reductions will be required for the duration of the project to safely install water, storm and sanitary mains to support development.
