Traffic restrictions in Oshawa

There will be traffic restrictions from May to November under the 2021 Road Reconstruction Project, according to the City of Oshawa.

The city has awarded Contract No. O 21-02 to New Alliance Ltd. for upgrade of Grenfell Street – Elmgrove Ave. to Pine Ave.; Glenwood Crescent – Bessborough Dr. to Winona Ave., Glenwood Court – South Limit to Winona Ave.; Winona Avenue – Glenwood Cres. to Somerville St.

The work will include replacement of the existing water main and service connections to property line, road reconstruction including storm sewer, catch basins, excavation, subdrains, new granular road base, hot mix asphalt, concrete curb and gutter and sidewalk (note: no new sidewalk will be constructed on Glenwood Cres or Glenwood Ct).  Sidewalk closures will be necessary for safety. Please note that the Surface layer of asphalt will be placed on the roads in 2022.

The work will include replacement of the existing water main and service connections to property line. Road work will include trench restoration as necessary. In 2022 the surface asphalt will be ground off and replaced from Glenwood Cres to Glenwood Ct.

The road limits can also be seen on the City’s Roadway Activity Map.  Additional information on the affected roads and care of new sod can be referenced on the City’s Infrastructure Renewal webpage.

How will this affect you?

All affected streets within the construction limits will remain open to local and emergency traffic with intermittent road closures and restricted driveway access to facilitate construction in a safe and efficient manner. All residential properties in the affected area will be placed on a temporary potable water system during construction of the new water main. Some water shut downs will be necessary, all residents will receive advanced notice and further information at that time.

Station Street Road Closure

Please be advised that Station Street between Commercial Avenue and Mills Road will be closed for approximately one week starting May 29, 2021, said the Town of Ajax.

The road closure will facilitate the installation of a sanitary sewer and watermain on Station Street. This connection is to accommodate the proposed Ballycliffe Chartwell Long Term Care Facility.

Appropriate signage will be placed throughout the area. We realize these closures will cause some disruption and we appreciate your understanding and patience in this regard. We will make every effort to have the construction work completed as quickly as possible. The business owners on 55 Mills Road, 91 Station Street, and 44-74 Commercial Avenue will be able to access their driveways and should not be effected by the closure.
