Bowmanville Stevens Road death ‘not suspicious’

Durham Police investigators have identified the victim of a traffic death in Bowmanville as a 54-year-old Oshawa resident.

On March 9, 2021, at about 11:25 pm, officers from East Division were called to the intersection of Bowmanville Avenue and Stevens Road in Clarington for a female pedestrian found on the roadway with severe injuries. The female was discovered by a passing motorist, said a police statement.

First responders attended the scene within minutes and provided medical assistance to the female. The female was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased. It was being treated as a suspicious death.

Members of the Collision Investigation Unit were able to identify the victim as Phyllis Brown of Oshawa. This investigation is still ongoing and at this time this investigation is not being treated as a suspicious death, police said.
