Weekend changes to Durham-wide waste collection

The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of changes to the scheduled curbside waste collection due to the upcoming statutory holidays.

It said residents of Ajax, Brock, Clarington, Pickering, Scugog and Uxbridge who have curbside collection scheduled for Friday, April 15, will have their waste collected the following day on Saturday, April 16, said a municipal statement.

Oshawa and Whitby residents with blue box collection scheduled for Friday, April 15, will have their recyclables collected on Saturday, April 16. Blue box collection scheduled for Monday, April 18, will be moved to Tuesday, April 19. This shift will continue throughout the week, ending with Friday, April 22, collections being moved to Saturday, April 23, in the City of Oshawa and the Town of Whitby only.

Garbage and green bin collection for Oshawa and Whitby residents is the responsibility of the individual municipalities, not the Region of Durham. These residents are asked to check their waste calendars or contact their local municipality regarding the collection of these items during the holiday weekend.

In observance of the statutory holiday weekend, the Regional Waste Management Facilities in Brock, Scugog and Oshawa, and the Household Special Waste Depot in Clarington, will be closed Friday, April 15, and Saturday, April 16. Regular operating hours will resume Tuesday, April 19.
