Whitby crash hit boy stable, preparing for surgery

A 14-year-old boy from Whitby was struck by a pickup truck while riding his bike and has suffered multiple injuries.

On Wednesday, August 5th, at around 8:50 pm, Colton was riding his bike near Garden Street and Manning Road in Whitby when he was struck and run over by a pickup truck.

He was rushed by ambulance to SickKids Hospital in Toronto with serious injuries

Colton is currently at the hospital where his family has been by his side around the clock since the accident. His injuries include:

• Ligament damage in his neck
• Multiple broken ribs and a punctured lung
• Multiple fractures in his pelvis
• Multiple fractures in his lower vertebrae
• Road rash across much of his body

He is preparing for surgery to begin repairing the damage from the crash, with many months of rehabilitation ahead of him after that.

Since the accident, Colton’s mom and dad have not left his side. A GoFundMe has been set up to help assist with some of the costs his family will be facing with months of rehab ahead of then. Currently, $17,075 has been raised. The goal is $30,000.
