Whitby extends free parking in downtown areas

Town of Whitby has announced it is extending free parking in downtown areas.

“To help our residents and local businesses keep moving, we’ve extended the free parking in downtown Whitby! Make sure to take advantage of this opportunity to #ShopLocal!” said a Whitby tweet.

Throughout the year, Whitby offers free parking at municipal lots across the town every weekday after 6 pm and on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. “Please continue to respect the three hour maximum time limit for parking lots. If you have a valid accessible parking permit displayed in your vehicle, you can park free of charge in any parking lot,” said a town notice.

The rate for using municipal parking lots is $1 per hour. Pay and display ticket machines in each parking lot accept Visa, Mastercard and coins. However, ticket machines located in Brooklin only accept coins. Overnight parking is not permitted.
