Thief pays when caught, returns at night to rob store

Durham Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a suspect who attempted to steal items from a store.

On November 24, a man visited the No Frills grocery store located at 920 Dundas Street in Whitby. The male attempted to steal items, was confronted by store staff, paid for the items and left, police said.

But that was not the end. The same male returned to the store just before 4 am on November 25. He used a concrete block to break the front window and stole an empty Salvation Army stand, causing $1,800 in damage.

The suspect is described as male White, 30-40 years of age, slim build, approximately 5’8″ – 5’9.” He was wearing a bulky blue and brown jacket with the hood up, blue pants and old faded white running shoes. He also had a large blue backpack with a circular green case attached to it.
