Whitby man held for trafficking 18-year old

Durham Police said a Whitby man has been arrested in a human trafficking case and investigators want to ensure there are no further victims.

An 18-year-old victim came forward in November stating that the accused picked her up out of the region and transported her to a Bowmanville hotel. The suspect trafficked and exploited the victim in the sex trade industry.

The accused Brendon Bongard, age 37 years of Muir Crescent, in Whitby was arrested and charged with: Procuring Exercise Control; Material Benefit Trafficking Person Over 18; Material Benefit from Sexual Services; Trafficking in Persons by Recruiting and Obtaining Sexual Services for Consideration.

He was held for a bail hearing.

Human Trafficking investigators are releasing his photo to ensure there are no other victims.
