No covid death, new cases drop to 45

Durham Health yesterday reported 45 new covid cases for December 2 bringing the region’s total to 4,724 cases since the count began on February 29.

Recoveries stand at 3,993, up by 28. There were 543 active covid cases in Durham.

According to Durham Health, there were:

  • Twenty new cases each in Ajax and Whitby
  • Eight in Oshawa
  • Four in Pickering
  • One each in Clarington and Uxbridge, and
  • One case has been subtracted from Scugog and added to Brock
  • Thirty cases are under investigation

Twenty-four cases are hospitalized with three in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 519 people in home isolation.

Deaths so far total 188, of which 158 were in long term care homes (LTCH).

Durham Health reported the highest number of cases so far at 1,432 in Ajax, followed by 1,136 in Pickering.

Death Toll: No new death

Of the 89 reported deaths in Pickering, 86 were in LTCH
Of the 39 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTCH
Seven deaths were reported in Whitby, three in LTCH
Of the 24 reported deaths in Oshawa, 16 were in LTCH
Eight deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTCH]
21 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTCH
No deaths have been reported in Scugog
No deaths have been reported in Brock
