Fourth covid death in a row in Durham

Durham Health yesterday reported four covid-related deaths during each of the past four days. The latest death was on December 1 at an Oshawa long term care home (LTCH).

It also posted  107 new covid cases for December 1 bringing the region’s total to 4,680 cases since the count began on February 29 — the second highest so far after 129 cases on November 28

Recoveries stand at 3,965, up by 45. There were 527 active covid cases in Durham.

  • Forty-three new cases in Whitby
  • Twenty-nine in Oshawa
  • Thirteen in Pickering
  • Ten in Ajax, and
  • Two in Clarington
  • Forty cases are under investigation

Twenty-one cases are hospitalized with three in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 506 people in home isolation.

Deaths so far total 188, of which 158 were in long term care homes (LTCH).

Durham Health reported the highest number of cases so far at 1,412 in Ajax, followed by 1,132 in Pickering.

Death Toll: One new death in Oshawa LTCH

Of the 89 reported deaths in Pickering, 86 were in LTCH
Of the 39 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTCH
Seven deaths were reported in Whitby, three in LTCH
Of the 24 reported deaths in Oshawa, 16 were in LTCH
Eight deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTCH]
21 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTCH
No deaths have been reported in Scugog
No deaths have been reported in Brock
