Whitby reduces 2025 overall tax hike to 4.5%

Whitby Mayor Elizabeth Roy has proposed changes to the draft budget released by the town staff on November 4.

“The original version proposed a tax increase of 5.7 per cent for 2025, the mayor’s updated version has brought that down to 4.5 per cent,” said a town statement released yesterday.

This proposed Strong Mayor’s Budget considers community feedback, budget pressures, and projections prepared by town staff and reflects a 4.5 per cent budget increase for 2025 to maintain essential service delivery and plan for growth.

This is also the town’s inaugural multi-year budget and includes staff projections for 2026 and 2027.
