Whitby Town Hall closed due to suspicious package

Whitby Town Hall was temporarily closed on January 6, following the delivery of a suspicious package to the facility at 575 Rossland Road East.

The closure was implemented as a precautionary measure to ensure public safety while an investigation was conducted, said a town statement.

Authorities have since determined that the package posed no threat. As a result, Town Hall was set to reopen on January 7, at 8:30 am for regular business hours.

The Town of Whitby expressed gratitude for residents’ patience during the incident and emphasized their commitment to prioritizing community safety.
