Woman driver with gun found speeding at midnight

Durham police have seized a firearm and arrested a 27-year-old woman following a traffic stop in Pickering.

According to the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS), at about 2:15 am on Tuesday, July 15, officers from West Division were conducting proactive patrols in the area of Brock Road and Rossland Road West when they observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed.

Officers initiated a traffic stop, and while checking the driver’s documents, they noticed a firearm inside the vehicle. The female driver was arrested without incident, and the firearm was seized.

A 27-year-old woman, of Toronto, was charged and held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
