Youth hit with noxious spray at fastfood plaza, suspect flees

Durham Police yesterday said a male youth was sprayed in the face with a noxious substance by another male during an attempted robbery in Whitby.

On Tuesday, December 5 at about 12:35 pm, members of Central West Division responded to an assist ambulance call in the area of Dundas Street East and Anderson Street in Whitby.

A male youth was sprayed in the face with a noxious substance while in a fast-food plaza. The victim was approached by another male who demanded his jacket. When the victim ignored him, the suspect sprayed the victim in the face. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival. The victim was transported to a local area hospital with minor injuries, police said.

The suspect is described as male, Brown, approximately 5’5” – 5’8”, with scruffy facial hair. He was wearing a black ski mask, black hooded sweater, and dark pants.
