Zipping by police at 117 in a 50-zone, car impounded

DRPS Traffic Services yesterday took a car off the road for doing far more than double the speed limit.

One of our officers got to Brawley Road / Cedarbrook Trail in the Town of Whitby this [yesterday] morning and the VERY FIRST car he saw was going 67kmh over (117 in a 50 – see below).

The car was impounded, driver charged and removed from roadway.

Meanwhile, officers from Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) West Division seized and impounded a car that was being driven at 141kmh in an 80-zone.

It was a challenge to get on the tow truck… but we got it on, said a police tweet (see main image and one below).

DRPS North Division officers remind motorists that cargo must be loaded, bound, secured, contained or covered so that no portion of the load may become dislodged or fall, leak, spill or blow from the vehicle.

They were conducting traffic checks in Port Perry and Township of Brock.
