12-year-old boy arrested for pointing pellet gun

Durham Police yesterday said a 12-year-old male was arrested and is facing charges after police received information that he pointed a replica firearm in a threatening manner while causing property damage, in Oshawa.

On Monday a 12-year old girl was tasered into submission after she hit three teachers and a student, while a Whitby School was placed under lockdown after a stabbing incident (see below).

On Saturday September 16 at about 5:25 pm, members of Central East Division were called to a residence in the area of Mary Street North and Taunton Road, in Oshawa, after it was reported that a suspect had brandished a firearm.

The suspect attended a residence and began kicking the front door. The homeowner opened the door and the youth pulled a black BB pellet gun from his backpack before pointing it at the homeowner. The youth then fled the area, said a police statement.

A 12-year-old male from Oshawa was charged with Pointing a Firearm, Assault with a Weapon, Possess Weapon for Committing Offence, Mischief Under $5,000, and Fail to Comply with Undertaking.

He was held for a bail hearing, police said.

Anyone with new information about this investigation is asked to contact Cst. Boyd of the Central East Division at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2169.
