Man held for death threats, mom charged for obstruction

Durham Police yesterday said a male has been charged after threatening to shoot another male and making false allegations of assault in Clarington.

On Sunday September 17, members of East Division attended a residence in the area of King Street East and Victoria Street in Oshawa, after the suspect called police to report an assault.

The suspect stated he was in possession of nine firearms which he would use to kill the male. Police confirmed there were no assaults, and attended the suspect’s residence. Following a lengthy negotiation the suspect was taken into custody, said a police statement.

The suspect’s mother attempted to interfere with the arrest and was also taken into custody, said the statement.

The suspect, age 32, of Clarington, was charged and held for a bail hearing. His mother, age 60, of Clarington, was charged and released on an undertaking. Names and further details available at www.drps.ca.
