Courtice area schools placed under lockdown

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday placed schools in an area of Courtice, Clarington, under lockdown. It was as a precaution after a nearby incident.

On Monday, a school in Whitby was put under lockdown after a stabbing incident, while police were called in to a school in Oshawa to subdue a 12-year old girl (see below).

Police are on scene in the area of Parklawn Drive in Courtice for a stolen vehicle investigation, said a DRPS alert about the Courtice incident.

“Area schools have been placed into lockdown while we search for two outstanding suspects. Further information to follow,” it said.

A little later, the police announced that all lockdown’s had been lifted.

“Suspects are still outstanding, however there is no safety concerns with the schools. Police remain in the area, said an advisory.
