One taken to hospital with burns after Whitby fire

One person was taken to a Toronto area hospital with burns sustained in a fire, according to the Town of Whitby Fire and Emergency Services.

The incident took place in the Garrard Road and Dryden Boulevard area.

One person transported to Sunnybrook hospital with burns, said Whitby Fire.

It had asked residents and visitors to stay away from the area, and later thanked them for their cooperation during the event.

In an incident update, Whitby Fire said crews were conducting ventilation operations. Additional fire crews will be begin clearing the scene shortly . Thank you for staying clear of the area. Great work by A2 Platoon to limit fire spread, it said.
