13-year old who got door slammed in face, charged

Durham Police investigators have identified and laid charges on a youth who brandished a knife after attending an elderly woman’s apartment.

 On January 21 at about 1:30 pm, members from Central West division attended 712 Rossland Road East for reports of a male armed with knife. The male attended the 12th floor of the building and knocked on the door of an elderly woman’s apartment. Once she answered, he held the knife and demanded she exit the unit, said a police statement.

The woman refused and was able to close the door. The suspect fled through the back of the building and walked southbound on Teddington Crescent.

A 13-year-old youth has been charged with Assault with a Weapon.

He was released on an Undertaking.
