Knife-brandishing teen gets door slammed on his face

Durham Police are requesting the public’s assistance in locating a male that attended an elderly woman’s apartment and brandished a knife.

On Saturday, January 21, at approximately 1:30 pm, members from Central West division attended 712 Rossland Road East for reports of a male armed with knife. The male attended the 12th floor of the building and knocked on the door of an elderly woman’s apartment. Once she answered, he held the knife and demanded she exit the unit. The woman refused and was able to close the door. The suspect fled through the back of the building and walked southbound on Teddington Crescent, said a police statement.

At this time, this appears to be a random act, it added.

The suspect is described as male, White, approximately 16-years-old, dark curly hair, round face, 5’4”, with a heavy build. He was wearing a black puffer jacket, black Under Amour shirt, dark pants and white ear buds.

Officers are requesting anyone in and around Teddington Crescent that may have video surveillance to contact police.
