14-year-old boy arrested for violent robberies

Toronto Police Service’s Hold Up Squad said it has arrested a barely-teen boy following multiple retail robberies in the west end of the city.

On Monday, October 7 at 8:10 pm, a 14-year old boy went to a gas station located at The Queensway and Windermere Avenue, approached the counter and brandished a large knife demanding money from the register along with cigarettes. After he got the cash and cigarettes, he fled.

A while later, at 8:43 pm, a boy entered a mini-mart located in the Lakeshore Boulevard West and Brookes Lane area and threatened the victim behind the counter with a large knife, demanding cash from both registers.

The victim backed away and contacted police and the boy then fled.

Later, that same night, at around 9:30 pm, a boy entered a gas station located in the Lakeshore Boulevard West and Marine Parade Drive, selected some merchandise and approached the counter.

When a staff member opened the register, the boy brandished a large knife and made demands for all the cash in the register, but was scared off and fled empty handed when a customer walked into the premise.

Then, at 11:36 pm, the boy entered a convenience store located at Lakeshore Boulevard West and Net Drive area, approached the victim while waving a knife and demanded cash and cigarettes. He fled with them.

Yesterday the 14-year-old boy, of no fixed address was arrested.

He has been charged with:

1. four counts of Robbery with an offensive weapon
2. four counts of Carry concealed weapon
3. four counts of Weapons Dangerous
5. Possession of property by crime (under)

All the property was recovered and a knife.

Note: The police cannot, by law, reveal the identity of the boy.
