Various divisions of the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) have issued issued more than 1,500 trafic tickets in just one week across Durham.
DRPS East Division yesterday said last week they conducted an #InTheZone initiative in local school zones. This initiative was in conjunction with Oshawa Bylaw and Clarington Bylaw and was aimed to make school zones safe.
In the week, 607 tickets were issued, with one for failing to stop for a school bus, 22 for failing to wear a seat belt and four drivers were suspended.
Meanwhile, DRPS Central East Division said in Week 1 of the Roadway Safety Initiative, 308 tickets were issued with nine cautions, one vehicle seizure for stunt driving and four drivers were suspended.
“We issued 396 offence notices for major infractions, including speeding and failing to adhere to stop signs. Please, slow down!” it added.
Earlier, DRPS North Division (see below) said it had issued 241 tickets in the week-long back-to-school safety initiative across the northern Durham townships of Brock, Uxbridge and Scugog.
