170kmh gets 30-day suspension, 14-day car impound

Durham Police officers in the area of Regional Road 57/Highway 7A observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on April 1.

The vehicle was traveling at 170 kilometers an hour. It was stopped in Caesarea and the 18-year old driver was charged with stunt driving and unnecessary noise, said a police report.

The driver was issued a 30-day licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

on April 2, the same officers were doing proactive patrol in the area of 7A. Scugog, when they passed a vehicle that refused to lower their high beams. The officers followed the vehicle which turned South on Hwy #12 at a high rate of speed at about 138kmh, and eventually stopped for officers.

As a result of the vehicle stop, officers observed open alcohol in the vehicle. A further search revealed that a passenger had three large bags of cannabis containing approximately 30 grams of marijuana.

Tickets were issued for liquor offences, cannabis offences, stunt driving and fail to lower high beams. The vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
