18-year old charged for accidentally shooting himself

Durham Police investigators have arrested and charged the injured party and another male suspect from an Oshawa shooting incident that took place in August.

On August 12 at about 7:50 pm, members from Central West Division were called to a shooting in the area of Britannia Avenue West and Simcoe Street North in Oshawa. An injured party was located and investigators located a handgun in a vehicle occupied by the suspects on the day of the shooting. The 20-year-old driver of the vehicle was arrested on August 30 and charged, said a police statement.

On October 21, investigators also arrested and charged an 18-year-old male with numerous firearms related offences in relation to an accidental, self-inflicted gunshot wound he sustained on August 12.

Ali, Haider, age 18, of Oshawa is charged with 13 criminal charges including: Careless Use of Firearm; Discharge Firearm; Possession of Restricted Firearm; Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace and Carry Concealed Weapon.

Izzeddin Alghussein, age 20, of Pickering was charged with: Careless Use of Firearm; Careless Use of Ammunition; Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm and Possession of Loaded Restricted Firearm.

They were both held for bail hearings.
