22-year old woman flashes knife when caught stealing

A woman has been charged in connection with an armed robbery at a Bowmanville pharmacy, according to Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS).

Police say the incident took place on the evening of Thursday, March 27, at about 9:50 pm, when officers responded to a robbery in progress at the Shoppers Drug Mart on Longworth Avenue.

Investigators said the woman entered the store and began concealing merchandise in her purse. When approached by an employee, the suspect allegedly brandished a knife before fleeing the scene with the stolen items.

Officers located the suspect nearby shortly after the incident. She was taken into custody without further incident, and police say both the stolen goods and the knife were recovered.

A 22-year-old female from Bowmanville is facing charges and was held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
