38 new covid cases, 90 recoveries, one death

Durham Health yesterday posted 38 new Covid-19 cases for February 4, taking the region’s tally to 10,947 since the count began on February 29. Two cases are under investigation.

It also added one new non-LTC (long term care) covid death in January in Pickering taking the month’s toll to 45. There were 53 deaths in December and five in November. The overall toll now at 287. Of these 215 have taken place at LTCs.

There were:

  • 6 new cases in Pickering
  • 12 new cases in Ajax
  • 8 in Whitby
  • 9 in Oshawa
  • 3 in Clarington, and
  • 1 in Uxbridge

Recoveries stand at 10,298, up by 90. There are 362 active covid cases.

Twenty-seven cases are hospitalized with 12 in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 335 people in home isolation.

Durham Health reported the highest number of cases so far at 3,197 in Ajax.

Death Toll: Total – 287              LTCH – 215

Of the 98 reported deaths in Pickering, 86 were in LTCH
Of the 49 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTCH
Forty-four deaths were reported in Whitby, 30 in LTCH
Of the 46 reported deaths in Oshawa, 34 were in LTCH
Twelve deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTCH]
24 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTCH
Fourteen deaths have been reported in Scugog, 12 in LTCH
No deaths have been reported in Brock
