$50K in drugs as suspect flees construction site on e-scooter

A 41-year-old man has been arrested in connection with drug trafficking following an incident at a construction site in Newcastle, according to Durham police.

On Friday, June 6, officers from East Division responded to an alarm in the area of Grady Drive and Rudell Road. Police say the suspect was attempting to access the office of a construction site when they arrived.

Upon seeing officers, the man attempted to flee on an electric scooter but was taken into custody shortly after. Police say a quantity of drugs valued at over $50,000 was seized during the arrest.

Further investigation revealed the suspect was also responsible for property damage at the Newcastle GO station lot, police said.

A 41-year-old male, of Clarington was charged and held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
