52-year old bought three cars using fake ID

A 52-year-old male is facing numerous charges after purchasing three vehicles using fraudulent identification.

Last October, the victim filed a police report after receiving mail congratulating him on a recent vehicle purchase. The victim was confused as he hadn’t purchased any vehicles. A fraud investigation commenced by an investigator in the Financial Crimes Unit and it was determined that the suspect actually purchased three vehicles in the name of the victim. These frauds were done in Alliston, Toronto and Cambridge, said a Durham Police statement.

The suspect was identified and he turned himself into police custody on March 1.

The suspect from Toronto, has been charged with: Fraud Over $5,000 x3; Personation with Intent x3; Make False Statement to Procure Loan x3; Dispose of Property to Avoid Creditors x3; Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 x3; Possess Counterfeit Mark x4; Possess identity Document x4; Possess Identity Information of Another x3 and Utter Forged Document x2.

He was released on an Undertaking. Further details are available at www.drps.ca.
