Snowmobiler charged with impaired driving after crash

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) said it has charged a snowmobiler with impaired driving following a collision between the snowmobile and a SUV.

The incident happened in Port Perry.

Officers from DRPS North Division were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Valentine’s Day near Old Simcoe Road and King Street.

When they arrived at the scene, they noticed signs of impairment from the man driving the snowmobile, and demanded a breath sample, said a police statement.

The results registered a fail, and the driver was arrested and brought to North Division where his breath samples registered more than 200mgs of alcohol per 100mls of blood, police said.

The 35-year old man from Kawartha Lakes was charged.
