600 traffic tickets issued in Oshawa during March

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday announced that its Central East Division alone issued some 20 traffic violation tickets a day last month.

Good morning Oshawa City. The DRPS CE Division March Traffic Safety Team issued over 600 tickets and 140 cautions, said a tweet from the division. No further details were provided.

“With the weather getting warmer and more road users out there, let’s drive safely and get those numbers down for the summer,” it exhorted.

DRPS Central East Division also pointed that officers responded to numerous impaired driving calls from citizens and proactively located others resulting in numerous arrests.

It said these could have easily been avoided by getting a designated driver or alternative transportation.

“Impaired driving will not be tolerated,” it added.
