75-year-old female seriously hurt in head-on crash

Durham Police yesterday said a 75-year-old female suffered serious injuries after a two vehicle collision in Oshawa.

On Wednesday, July 5 at about 7:10 pm officers from East Division responded to a collision involving two motor vehicles on Columbus Road West, west of Simcoe Street North.

A green Chevrolet Monte Carlo was travelling westbound on Columbus Road West when an eastbound black Dodge Caravan entered the westbound lane and directly into the path of the Chevrolet, causing a collision, said a police statement.

The 75-year-old passenger of the Chevrolet was transported to a trauma centre and sustained non-life threatening but serious injuries, and the driver was released with minor injuries. The driver of the Dodge Caravan remained at the scene and cooperated with police.

Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The roads in the area were closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
