Up to three years licence suspension for stunt… if convicted

DRPS Traffic Services yesterday explained that the law is not lenient on stunt drivers or drag or dangerous racing, as some believe.

“We often see people commenting that the 30-day suspension at roadside is not enough of a deterrent for stunt driving. Please see below for what happens post conviction,” said a police tweet.

It did not provide statistics of any convictions.

DRPS Traffic Services quoted Ontario Ministry of Transportation as saying the province has zero tolerance for dangerous driving on the roads.

Ministry said violators, if convicted of stunt driving, can have their licence suspended for:

  • Up to 3 years for a 1st offence
  • 10 years for a 2nd offence
  • For life on a 3rd offence

“It’s not worth the risk,” it said.
