91 in 50km zone got driver a 14-day impound

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday announced that a driver had his licence temporarily suspended and vehicle impounded for excessive speeding.

DRPS East Division officers early yesterday stopped a vehicle doing 91km in a 50km zone on Concession 7 and Acres Rd.

The car was impounded for 14 days and a 30-day licence suspension issued for stunt driving, said a police tweet.

DRPS, meanwhile, announced it is gearing up for the upcoming Victoria Day long weekend.

“We are officially out on Lake Ontario. The boat will be out patrolling the waterways this long weekend and summer. Now we need more sunshine. Stay safe out there, wear your lifejackets and have your safety gear ready,” said another tweet.

Yet another DRPS tweet said its Traffic Services Branch unit is getting ready for this coming long weekend. “We will be on the roadways and waterways ensuring everyone is safe.”
