Man charged with sexual assault on two minors

Durham Police has charged a 21-year-old male with sexual assault charges involving two minors.

The DRPS Special Victims Unit commenced an investigation in March after a 14-year-old female victim came forward with allegations of a sexual nature against the suspect. The sexual assault occurred in early 2021. The victim had met the suspect on a social media platform, said a police statement.

During the initial investigation a second 14-year-old victim was identified.  She also provided a statement to police.

The suspects is from Belleville has been arrested and charged. Name and charges are available at www.drps.ca.

The suspect, utilized social media sites to meet his victims and used the alias of Michael and claims to be 17-years-old, police said adding investigators want to ensure there are no other victims.
