Law made stricter: 30-day licence suspension for three caught stunt driving

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) said it had suspended the driving licence of three persons after they were caught separately for stunt driving in Pickering and Ajax areas.

Even with the new legislation in place, our Traffic Services Branch officers continue to find drivers speeding in our communities. Yesterday [Thursday] three drivers had their licence’s suspended for 30 days and vehicle’s impounded for 14 days, said the DRPS.

It said the vehicles of the offenders were impounded for 14 days under the new legislation.

In the first incident, a 23-year old man from Markham was stopped at Rossland Road and Des Newman Blvd. He was caught speed at 107 km in a 60-km zone.

A 25-year old man from Toronto was stopped at Taunton Road and Sideline 22 doing 133 in a 80-km zone.

In the third incident, a 23-year old female was stopped at Taunton Road and Church Street doing 136 kmh in a 70-km zone.
