Clarington lists communities for tree pruning and removal

The Municipality of Clarington said it is undertaking tree maintenance work in several neighbourhoods to ensure public safety and tree health.

Work is underway, and is expected to be completed before the end of the year.

Certain residential areas will benefit from forestry work that keeps the neighborhoods beautiful, the community safe and the trees healthy. In the coming weeks, crews will be conducting block pruning, which may cause minor disruptions for pedestrian traffic, said a municipal statement.

It said block pruning is an important practice that promotes safe tree structure while improving the overall health of the trees. This work will involve:

  • Removing dead, diseased, broken or dangerous branches
  • Pruning for clearance over roadways, public walkways and driveways
  • Trimming branches that come into contact with homes and other structures during normal weather conditions
