Double shooting in Ajax may be linked to GTA tow truck war

Durham Police say they are looking for suspects after two shootings in Ajax Thursday night.

On Thursday, December 12, at about 10:40 pm, members of West Division responded to the area of Wilsongary Circle and Urwin Street after receiving numerous 9-1-1 calls for sounds of gunshots. Officers arrived on scene and located a residence with bullet holes through the front door.

While on scene, officers say they received information that another property associated to the residence had also been shot. Officers attended the area of Decourcy-Ireland Circle and Pointer Lane, about one kilometre away, and located a second residence with bullet holes through the front door.

A review of security camera footage showed the two incidents happened within minutes of each other. Police said a white Honda SUV was seen on video associated to a suspect, who was wearing all black and a black medical mask say police.

Officers said that residents were home in both incidents at the time of the shootings. There were no physical injuries reported.

Investigators are asking any witnesses or anyone with video footage, including dashcam, to please contact police.

Police believe these two incidents are believed to be in relation to the ongoing tow truck violence being seen across the GTA. While DRPS recognizes that very few tow truck operators and businesses are involved in any type of criminality, there is evidence to suggest some are involved in organized crime.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact D/Cst. McCubbin of West Criminal Investigations Branch at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2548.
