Watermain breaks cause slowdown on King and Athol streets

The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of lane restrictions on King Street, between Mary Street and Charles Street, in the City of Oshawa due to ongoing watermain break repairs.

It said the impacted area may change throughout the course of the repairs.

Closure on Athol Street East for watermain repair

Earlier, the city notified of closure on Athol Street East for watermain repair. Repairs were expected to be complete by the end of day Wednesday, February 19.

The road and sidewalk was closed between Central Park Boulevard South and and Lasalle Avenue. It was open for local traffic only.

The region said businesses and residents in the area will experience a temporary water service interruption or decrease in water pressure for the duration of the repair. When the water service returns to normal, it is important for customers to turn on a cold water tap only and let it run for approximately five to 10 minutes to clean out any sediment that may have accumulated in your water service. This will avoid any sediment entering the hot water system.

It said it realizes that the work is disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and the work crews.
