Brock’s 2025 budget calls for an overall 5.45% tax increase

The Township of Brock has approved its 2025 Operating and Capital Budget, which reflects a local net levy increase for 2025 at 4.44 per cent. The levy increase in 2024 was 3.97 per cent.

The 2025 draft budget was first presented to council on January 24, 2025, and included a proposed net levy increase (after adjustment for realized growth) of 6.43 per cent. Through several budget deliberation meetings, there have been several budget changes, resulting in a reduction to the 2025 net budget levy to 4.44 per cent, according to the budget document.

Durham Region + Brock Tax Levy Increase of 5.45%

The Region of Durham approved its 2025 budget with a tax levy increase of 7.4 per cent.

Using the Brock’s tax levy increase of 4.44 per cent and the region’s levy increase of 7.4 per cent (education levy is unchanged from 2024), the township estimates the combined tax levy impact on a median, single family detached home with a CVA of $300,000 as follows:


The Township of Brock levy increase is approximately $66.15 per year or 30 per cent of the total estimated tax levy increase for 2025, while the Region of Durham levy increase is approximately $154.27 per annum or 70 per cent of the total estimated tax levy increase, the township pointed out.
