Lane closure on Bowmanville Avenue for rest of the year

The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of a lane closure on Bowmanville Avenue in Clarington as construction begins on the Burketon Station bridge replacement.

The closure will take effect from March 17 to December, though the schedule may be impacted by unfavorable weather conditions, said the municipality.

Traffic on Bowmanville Avenue between 10th Concession and Boundary Road will be reduced to a single lane to facilitate the safe replacement of the bridge over the Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Railway. Temporary traffic signals will be installed on either side of the bridge to safely alternate northbound and southbound traffic during the construction period, said officials.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and plan alternate routes where possible.
