Weed whiff again leads police to firearm, four arrested

Durham police say four men are facing charges after a firearm was seized during a traffic stop in Oshawa.

On Thursday, August 21, at about 1:30 am, officers were on proactive patrol in the area of Albany Street and Simcoe Street South when they pulled over a vehicle. Police say officers detected a strong smell of cannabis coming from the vehicle, which led to a search.

During the search, police located a loaded firearm. Four men were arrested without incident.

A 42-year-old male of Oshawa, a 23-year-old male of Whitby, a 20-year-old male of Ajax, and a 21-year-old male of no fixed address, are all facing several charges and were all held for a bail hearing. Names and further details available at www.drps.ca.
