Police say four people are facing charges after a firearm and drugs were seized during a traffic stop in Whitby.
According to Durham police, officers responded to a break-and-enter in progress call around 12:20 am on Sunday, August 17, in the area of Taunton Road West and Cochrane Street. When they arrived, they found a vehicle with several occupants inside.
While speaking with those in the vehicle, officers noticed open alcohol and conducted a search. Police say they discovered a loaded firearm hidden in the waistband of one of the occupants, along with drugs, drug paraphernalia, and cash.
All four individuals were arrested without incident. No injuries were reported.
A 33-year-old male, from Pickering was charged and held for a bail hearing. A 38-year-old female, of no fixed address, a 37-year-old male, of Whitby and a 28-year-old female, of Whitby were all charged and released on an undertaking. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
