Police say one man has been arrested and a second suspect is being sought following a stabbing in Oshawa.
On Monday, August 11, at around 6:35 pm, officers were called to Mary Street North and William Street East after receiving reports of three men fighting.
According to police, the victim had been playing basketball when he was approached by two males. A verbal dispute escalated, leading the group into the roadway where a physical altercation took place. During the fight, the victim was stabbed, and both suspects fled before officers arrived.
Responding officers provided first aid at the scene, applying a tourniquet before the victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Through their investigation, police say they were able to identify one of the suspects. On Tuesday, August 12, members of the East Division Crime Team arrested him near King Street West and Nassau Street.
A 19-year-old male, of no fixed address, was charged and held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
The second suspect remains outstanding.
