Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) last week charged a female driver who allegedly assaulted a bylaw officer for issuing her a parking ticket.
After the assault the female proceeded to drive her vehicle aggressively past a crosswalk failing to stop for a crossing guard, police reported on Wednesday.
It said DRPS East Division officers responded to an assault call in the area of Grandview Street South and Olive Avenue in Oshawa, after a by-law officer reported being assaulted after issuing a parking ticket to a female driver.
A 32-year-old female from Clarington was charged with: Assault and Fail to Obey School Crossing Stop Sign.
Turn of Commercial Vehicles to Face a Durham Blitz
It was the turn of commercial vehicle drivers to face a joint blitz by the OPP Highway Safety Division, Ontario Ministry of Transport (MTO) and Durham police on Thursday.
There were 71 charges laid, 19 out-of-service conditions reported and three plates were removed for unfit conditions. There were 37 completed inspections, said a Whitby OPP alert yesterday.
The joint blitz was carried out in Beaverton.
“Working together to keep our roads safe,” OPP added.

DRPS North Division officers too were part of the inspection blitz under their slogan: Working together for safer roads.
On Wednesday, North Division officers conducted radar enforcement on King Street in Prince Albert.
“Please obey the speed limit and keep our roads safe,” they said.
