22-year old dropped off at hospital with gunshot wound, dies

Durham police yesterday said a 22-year-old male has been shot and killed in Durham Region’s eighth homicide of the year.

On Sunday, November 16 at about 11:10 pm, members from North Division responded to an armed person call in the area of Mara Road and Simcoe Street in Beaverton for reports of gunshots.

A short time later police received a phone call advising a male had been dropped off at a local area hospital suffering from a gunshot wound. The male was later pronounced deceased. At this time, investigators believe this was an isolated incident.

The Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation and is asking for anyone with information or video footage, including dashcam and home surveillance, to contact police.

If you have any information about this incident, please contact Det. Hollister of the DRPS Homicide Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5415.
