Costly day for driver on the phone in snow covered car

Nobody wants to be out in the cold more than one has to…but that urgency proved costly for the driver of  the above vehicle.

They managed to clear just enough snow off their car to be able to see out front and started driving along the streets of Oshawa.

Unfortunately for this driver the cleared snow was not enough and he was stopped by the police who also caught him on the phone while driving, reported the East Division officers.

The incident took place at Taunton and Wilson roads in Oshawa.

The fine for snow covered windows was $110. The fine for being on a cell phone while driving was $615, upon conviction.

The driver received three demerit points and a three-day suspension for first offense.

Failing To Obey Stop Sign

In the area of Grandview Drive and Southdown Street, in Oshawa, East Division officers reported that they fined several motorists for failing to stop at stop sign.

The fine for failing to stop is $110 and three demerit points, they said.

Road Closures

The Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) also advised of two road closures that took place across the region on Thursday January 22.

The intersection of Kingston Road West and Ritchie Avenue in Ajax was closed for a collision investigation.
