Ajax opens applications for anti-hate grants

For the second year in a row, the Town of Ajax is making its Grants and Partnerships team available to Ajax’s faith-based and cultural organizations who may require guidance or support in their applications to the Provincial government’s 2023 Ontario Anti-hate Security and Prevention Grant program.

Eligible organizations can apply to receive a grant of $5,000, $7,500 or $10,000 from the province to enhance or implement measures to protect and secure their facilities from hate-motivated incidents, graffiti, vandalism and other damages.

The Ontario Anti-Hate Security and Prevention Grant was first announced in 2021 and provides $25.5 million over two years to help ensure faith-based organizations and cultural organizations have safe and secure community spaces to practice their faith or express their cultures and beliefs.

“Ajax is proud to be home to a diverse community and to support our many faith-based and cultural organizations. Thank you to the Ontario government for providing this important funding, I hope the town’s assistance available to the community and promotion of the grant helps ensure as many organizations as possible are able to take advantage of this opportunity. Everyone deserves to be able to celebrate and worship safely and to feel secure in their community,” said Mayor Shaun Collier.
